Linde Hydraulics employees donate €20,000 for Ukrainian children in Aschaffenburg

- Donation supports project to prepare Ukrainian children for school in Aschaffenburg
Aschaffenburg, 20 May 2022 – The employees of Linde Hydraulics GmbH & Co. KG and the company are donating a total of €20,000 for children affected by the Ukraine conflict. Most of the amount comes from overtime donated by the staff. The company has subsequently rounded up the amount.
The sum goes to an initiative established by the municipal authorities of Aschaffenburg. This project will enable children – especially from Ukraine – to learn German before entering the first grade in September 2022. In addition, other children from other countries who have come to Germany since 1 February 2022 will also receive support here to be prepared for the first school year in the best possible way.
“It is important for the municipal authorities of Aschaffenburg that no child is left behind and therefore we see an urgent need for action in this area. Unfortunately, kindergartens cannot provide this support at the moment due to a lack of capacity,” said Jürgen Herzing, Lord Mayor of Aschaffenburg, at the handover of the donation.
No school-preparatory solutions are offered by the ministries either.
“The initiative of the municipal authorities of Aschaffenburg is great and we immediately agreed that we would like to place the donation there. Giving innocent children, who already have to cope with the new circumstances in a foreign country, the chance for a better start in school life is so important. In addition, the project is local, and thus we can help directly in our city. We would like to thank all our colleagues who joined the campaign,” said Walter Skrobek, Works Council Chairman of Linde Hydraulics.
